Ladies from across the Scottish licensed trade were at their generous best this past week as they raised £6000 for The BEN at the charity’s newest event, ‘Fashion and Fizz’.
Hosted at The Oran Mor in Glasgow, guests were treated to dinner, champagne and a fashion show with a difference, led by guest compere Gina McKie, where members of the crowd took to the catwalk to model dresses which were up for auction. Other entertainment was provided by Scotland’s leading mentalist and mindreader, Drew McAdam, who wowed the audience with his unrivalled mindplay skills.
Proceeds from the evening will go towards The BEN’s range of services which help both former and current workers of the licensed trade facing difficulties. Whether it’s social, financial or emotional support, The BEN helps anyone who has worked full-time in the Scottish licensed trade for at least three years.
Commenting on the event, The BEN’s chief executive, Chris Gardner, said: “Our first Fashion and Fizz event was a complete success and it couldn’t have happened without the support and generosity of our guests. They made the evening what it was and we’re already excited about planning for next year’s event.
“I’d like to thank Gina and Drew for leading the evening’s entertainment, and an important mention for Sue Buchanan and Lucie Cooney for their roles in organising a brilliant event. We’re also extremely grateful to all businesses and individuals who donated dresses and raffle prizes.
“It was very humbling to see the industry come together in support of The BEN and we hope to see everyone again next year.”
